Three different backgrounds, three growing up processes, three media – a gathering which looks like three persons talking to themselves is in fact a reflection of what the young generations in Hong Kong most concerned about, how their lives are and all kinds of dilemma that they have to face in reality.

Three young artists, each having different experiences in their upbringing and learning backgrounds, have their roots now planted in Hong Kong. Through some traditional media which encompass drawing, painting and Chinese ink painting, they reveal thoughts about stories of themselves and those who are around them. YIU Chu-tung was born in Dongguan. He grew up and studied in Hong Kong. YIU likes to spend time alone in the studio so that he can escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. He likes to immerse himself into the black and white spaces that he creates on paper. Using pencils, he draws figuratively what he sees as the perfect forms of people and objects. Yet at the same time, YIU expresses the distance between oneself and the subject capture on paper reflecting a sense of uneasiness when living in the city. WONG Xiang-yi, another artist, was born in Malaysia and came to Hong Kong alone to start her career and lives in this culturally diversified city. Her artworks have been deeply influenced by the pop manga culture of Japan. WONG uses 'Yaoi' as the basis of creating her artworks which often evolves around the theme of sexuality. The third artist, NGAI Joe-Joe, was born in Hong Kong and was educated in the United Kingdom from an early age. He has later returned to Hong Kong to continue his art creation. Inspried by the cultural differences between two cities, NGAI's works are about self-identity and the collision between the East and the West. As part of his work, NGAI has been using oil paintings to explore the possibilities of infusing traditional and contemporary elements.
